The visit includes the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting and the SCO Plus Summit. A major focus will be Pakistan’s assumption of the SCO chairmanship for 2026-2027, after which the next SCO summit will be hosted in Islamabad.
Sharif is accompanied by key ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, as Pakistan prepares to take over the organisation’s chairmanship and advance its engagement on regional issues.
During his visit, Sharif will also hold bilateral talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. The discussions will cover trade, energy, connectivity and other areas of mutual interest, building on the shared history and common goals of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan for regional peace.
The three-day visit from August 31 to September 2 brings together the SCO summit proceedings, the chairmanship handover and bilateral engagement between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, with Islamabad set to host the next SCO summit during its 2026-2027 chairmanship.
